Summary: Following extensive market consultation, SMM plans to launch optimized Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cathode material price points on April 20, 2026: "Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.60 g/cm³, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.40 g/cm³, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.30 g/cm³".

With the  quick development of the new energy lithium battery industry, enterprises are paying increasing attention to the prices of LFP cathode materials with different powder compaction densities. To adapt to market demand, provide more comprehensive and diverse spot price information to the market, and offer enterprises more options for settlement reference standards, SMM, after extensive preliminary market communication, plans to launch the optimised LFP material price points on April 20, 2026:

  • Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.60 g/cm³;

  • Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³;

  • Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³;

  • Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.40 g/cm³;

  • Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.30 g/cm³.

Introduction to the New Version of SMM LFP Cathode Material Related Prices:

After extensive communication with upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry over a long period, SMM has comprehensively considered the market's gradually increasing demand for price references for LFP cathode materials with different powder compaction densities. Pricing is shifting from terminal application scenarios (power, energy storage), cycle life, and other technical indicators to focus primarily on powder compaction. To this end, SMM will adjust the specific specifications as follows:

Adjustment 1: Add the "Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.60 g/cm³" price.

  • New Price Point Name and Definition: Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.60 g/cm³. 0.1C discharge specific capacity ≥ 156 mAh/g, powder compacted density ≥ 2.60 g/cm³ (±0.02) (under 3-ton press conditions).

Adjustment 2: Modify the name "LFP (EV Type, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³)" and change its definition.

  • Original Price Point Name and Definition: LFP (EV Type, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³). 0.1C discharge specific capacity ≥ 156 mAh/g, powder compacted density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³, achievable cycle life of 3000-4000 cycles at 80% capacity retention.

  • Adjusted Price Point Name and Definition: Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³. 0.1C discharge specific capacity ≥ 156 mAh/g, powder compacted density ≥ 2.55 g/cm³ (±0.02) (under 3-ton press conditions).

Adjustment 3: Modify the name "LFP (EV Type, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³)" and change its definition.

  • Original Price Point Name and Definition: LFP (EV Type, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³). 0.1C discharge specific capacity ≥ 155 mAh/g, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³, achievable cycle life of at least 3000 cycles at 80% capacity retention.

Adjustment 5: Merge the price of "LFP (ESS Type, Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³)" with the "Powder Compacted Density ≥ 2.50 g/cm³" .
