The U.S. Department of Commerce has issued its final determination in the anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation into concrete steel bars imported from Vietnam, setting final anti-dumping duties of 123.49% for the mandatory respondent and 131.53% for all other exporters, alongside a 6.8% countervailing duty. The case will now proceed to the U.S. International Trade Commission for a final injury determination before any duty order takes effect.

Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into certain prestressed steel bar products imported from China under case code AD24. The investigation covers products classified under HS codes 7227.20.00, 7228.20.11, 7228.20.19, and 7229.20.00, with the dumping investigation period set from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, and the injury assessment period from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2026. The investigation was launched following a petition submitted by Hoa Phat Prestressed Steel Company Limited and Viet Nhat Prestressed Steel Joint Stock Company, which estimated a preliminary dumping margin of 23.06%. Following the initiation, the Ministry will issue questionnaires to relevant foreign manufacturers, exporters, and Chinese representative missions in Vietnam to collect information for the investigation.

Vardhman Special Steels reported a strong Q1 FY27, with standalone net profit more than doubling year on year to INR 41.2 crore (USD 4.8 million) as higher sales volumes, improved realizations and margin expansion lifted earnings. Revenue rose 12.1% YoY to INR 486 crore (USD 56.5 million), while the company said its forging expansion project with Japan's Aichi Steel remains on schedule.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Yamamah Steel Industries Co. announced that its subsidiary, Al Yamamah for Reinforcing Steel Bars, has signed a contract worth 270 million Saudi riyals ($72 million) with a European specialized company for the manufacture, supply, and installation of equipment for its steel billet production plant. The contract was signed on July 14 and spans two and a half years, with its financial impact expected to materialize in H2 2028. This equipment contract is part of Al Yamamah’s steel billet production project, aimed at strengthening backward integration and securing the raw material supply needed for its long product manufacturing. Al Yamamah Steel specializes in producing and selling a variety of products, including welded pipes, sheets & plates, rebar, and three-dimensional space structures, primarily serving the construction and infrastructure sectors. The company also produces galvanized steel lighting and distribution poles, high-mast structures, and galvanized steel lattice towers for the power and electricity distribution industry. Its production facilities are strategically located in Jeddah, Dammam, and Yanbu.

The Board of Directors of VMS TMT Limited has approved a Scheme of Amalgamation to merge Aditya Ultra Steel Limited into the company, subject to necessary statutory and regulatory approvals. Both Gujarat-based manufacturers produce premium-quality thermo-mechanically treated (TMT) steel bars within the Kamdhenu brand ecosystem. This proposed amalgamation will combine their businesses into a single listed entity, forming a larger steel manufacturing enterprise with expanded scale and integrated operations.

【SMM Steel】Vietnam's Trade Remedies Authority has validated a complete application from local manufacturers seeking an anti-dumping investigation on prestressed steel bars imported from China. The petition aims to evaluate whether these imports cause material injury or impede the establishment of a domestic industry. The investigating authority has 45 days to review legal representation and injury evidence before making a final recommendation to the Minister of Industry and Trade on case initiation. Vietnam imposed AD duties of 9.79-28% on prestressed steel strand from Malaysia Thailand and China in January 2025 and initiated a first review on January 21 2026. A new probe on steel bars would expand Vietnam's trade remedy scope against Chinese steel products.

【SMM Steel】On May 26, 2026, Ukraine's Ministry of Economy initiated an anti-dumping investigation on hot-rolled bars in coils from China under Resolution No. AD-602/2026/441-01. Products covered include carbon steel bars 5-14mm and alloy steel bars 5-32mm (excluding high-speed steel and welding wire). The investigation period runs from 2022 to October 2025. Affected Ukrainian customs codes: 7213.91.10.00, 7213.91.41.00, 7213.91.49.00, 7213.91.70.00, 7213.91.90.00, 7227.20.00.00, 7227.90.10.00, 7227.90.50.00, 7227.90.95.00. This is Ukraine's sixth AD probe on Chinese products since April 2024.

According to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs, in April 2026, China exported 5.46 million mt of steel sheets & plates, down 17.5% YoY; cumulative exports from January to April totaled 20.06 million mt, down 16.6% YoY. In April, China exported 1.81 million mt of steel bars, up 14.3% YoY; cumulative exports from January to April totaled 6.05 million mt, up 5.9% YoY. In April, China exported 640,000 mt of angle steel and sections, up 7.1% YoY; cumulative exports from January to April totaled 2.55 million mt, up 14.9% YoY.

The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC) announced its preliminary findings for the anti-dumping (AD) administrative review of stainless steel bars from India. The USDOC determined that the collapsed Venus Group (including Atlas Stainless, Venus Wire, and Hindustan Inox) sold products below normal market value, assigning it a preliminary dumping margin of 30.92%. Conversely, Laxcon Steels Private Limited and its affiliates received a 0% margin for complying with fair pricing standards. Five other non-examined Indian firms face a rate of 15.46%, while the review for Ambica Steel Limited was rescinded following a withdrawal request.

[SMM Steel] South Korea’s Korea Trade Commission initiated an anti-dumping investigation into specialty steel bar and rod imports from China following complaints from local producers SeAH Besteel and SeAH Changwon Special Steel. The investigation covers imports from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025, and will assess whether low-priced Chinese imports caused injury to the domestic industry. Authorities may impose provisional AD duties if preliminary findings confirm dumping and material injury.
