The optimization and upgrading project of TISCO’s (Shanxi Taigang) stainless steel hot-rolled strip production line reached a critical milestone on February 27 with the successful concrete pouring of the roof slab for the scale flushing trench in the Rough Rolling R2 area. Throughout the recent holiday period, over 100 builders remained on-site to maintain momentum, completing the installation of steel columns for the reheating furnace and main rolling line using four large crawler cranes. Additionally, the completion of the rough rolling electrical room's roof slab and the excavation of external cable tunnels have established favorable conditions for the upcoming post-holiday installation of mill housings and electrical systems, signaling steady progress in TISCO's capacity modernization.

This week, the total inventory of construction steel continued to decline. Specifically, the total rebar inventory decreased by 1.82% WoW, while the total wire rod inventory increased by 0.68% WoW. On the supply side, the operating rates of both BF and EAF steel mills declined this week. Currently, due to reduced profitability, some steel mills in Shaanxi have halted production for maintenance, leading to a decrease in pig iron production. The production situation of EAF steel mills varied. One electric furnace plant in east China resumed production, while in the southwest region, due to electricity subsidies, market profitability improved, prompting some electric furnace plants to extend their operating hours.

According to statistics from the China Construction Machinery Industry Association on major excavator manufacturers, 19,270 excavators were sold in February 2025, up 52.8% YoY. Among them, domestic sales reached 11,640 units, up 99.4% YoY, while exports totaled 7,630 units, up 12.7% YoY. From January to February 2025, a total of 31,782 excavators were sold, up 27.2% YoY. Among them, domestic sales amounted to 17,045 units, up 51.4% YoY, and exports reached 14,737 units, up 7.37% YoY.
