Hindalco Industries has commissioned a new aluminium bicycle component manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra, strengthening its presence in the mobility sector. The plant will serve both domestic and international markets and produce aluminium bicycle frames, rigid forks, wheel rims, handlebars and other lightweight components. Equipped with advanced manufacturing and finishing technologies, the facility is expected to produce approximately 500,000 bicycle frames and forks, 750,000 handlebars and 800,000 pairs of wheel rims annually. The investment aligns with Hindalco’s strategy to expand its portfolio of value-added aluminium products and increase its focus on mobility applications. The company continues to diversify beyond primary aluminium into higher-value segments, including flat-rolled products, extrusions, aluminium foils and aerospace-grade aluminium alloys, supporting growing demand for lightweight and sustainable transportation solutions.
Jun 23, 2026 17:58Britain’s growing aluminium scrap exports are raising concerns about the long-term availability of a critical raw material for domestic industries. According to Make UK, aluminium scrap exports reached 624,314 tonnes in 2025, up 43% from 2016 levels, while shipments to India increased 94% to nearly 199,000 tonnes. Exports to the US surged 989% year-on-year to 23,560 tonnes after aluminium scrap was excluded from Section 232 tariff measures. Make UK estimates the UK could require up to 6 million tonnes of recyclable aluminium scrap to support total aluminium demand of 8 million tonnes by 2035. The organisation warned that continued scrap outflows could weaken domestic manufacturing, discourage investment and reduce supply chain resilience. It called for greater investment in scrap collection, sorting and processing infrastructure, improved recycling standards and measures to retain critical aluminium alloys within the UK’s circular economy.
Jun 19, 2026 14:35Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a 10,000-tonne aluminium extrusion press at Yantra India Limited's Ordnance Factory in Ambajhari, Nagpur, on Friday. The proposed facility is expected to become an important resource for India's defence manufacturing sector. The extrusion press will enhance the country's ability to produce large, high-strength and precision aluminium alloy extrusions required for defence and aerospace applications.

As resource security and decarbonization become increasingly important, major economies are strengthening efforts to retain aluminum scrap. From the EU's review of export controls and the U.S. strategic asset proposal to Japan's circular economy initiatives and policies in the UAE and South Africa, these developments could reshape global scrap flows and affect secondary aluminum markets.
Jun 6, 2026 23:27New Zealand has opened a safeguard investigation into imports of certain aluminium extrusion products, according to a notification circulated by the country to the World Trade Organization Committee on Safeguards on May 28, 2026. The investigation was initiated by New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and relates to aluminium alloy profiles, bars and rods manufactured using extrusion processes. The products under review fall under tariff classifications 7604.21.00 00B, covering hollow profiles, and 7604.29.09 00F for other aluminium extrusion products. According to the notification, the investigation covers extrusions produced from alloys belonging to the 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 series under the Aluminium Association classification system.
Jun 4, 2026 14:07The National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has launched a new IA91 grade aluminium alloy ingot on 24th February. IA91 grade aluminium alloy ingot is a high-profile, silicon-based aluminium casting alloy. It is manufactured in ingot form (metal that has been cast into a solid, standardised bar shape) for use in metal casting processes. The main usage of the alloy ingot is in automotive components, electrical power equipment, industrial machinery and foundry applications.
Feb 26, 2026 15:55Western Hungary is going to position itself within the global industrial and political networks as it sets to host a new aluminium alloy facility. Backed by EUR 58 million ( USD 63 million) investment, the project introduces advanced US processing technology while anchoring production firmly within Central Europe. Environmental performance sits at the centre of the plant’s design. The recycling-based production method is expected to consume up to 20 per cent less energy than standard recycling operations, and approximately 90 per cent less energy than alumina-based primary aluminium production. With a planned throughput of 4,500 tonnes per month, the facility is intended to operate as a closed system, lowering emissions well below sector averages. Construction is expected to begin within weeks and continue for 23 months. Once completed, the plant is projected to support regional raw material supply and generate hundreds of jobs, positioning REMET Hungary as an early example of an industrial model where sustainability and competitiveness move together.

【SMM Scrap Aluminium Market Analysis】ASEAN’s aluminium scrap trade is emerging as a strategic pillar in the global shift toward low-carbon manufacturing. Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam dominate regional flows, but regulatory fragmentation and illicit trade challenge market stability. Recent U.S.–ASEAN critical-minerals deals and expanded ties with Canada and China highlight growing global interest in the region’s recycling capacity. To realise its potential, ASEAN must harmonise policies, strengthen traceability, and build a cohesive circular-economy framework for sustainable aluminium production.
Oct 30, 2025 13:50On July 16th, Constellium announced the successful completion of its FlexCAR project, a five-year publicly funded initiative focused on smart aluminium solutions for the automotive sector. Conducted in collaboration with Germany's leading mobility research campus ARENA2036, FlexCAR brought together key partners including Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, Bosch, and the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). The project features a modular sill structure made from Constellium’s HSA6 high-strength aluminium alloys, which are partially recycled. This innovative design delivers enhanced crash performance, greater design flexibility, and a reduced carbon footprint. Constellium and ARENA2036 previously collaborated on the Digital Fingerprint project, which created a digital twin of an aluminium component to monitor performance throughout its lifecycle.
