Aperam, the Luxembourg-based stainless steel manufacturer, has raised alloy surcharges for its European austenitic flat products for April 2026. Key adjustments include: Grade 304 rose to EUR 2,211/ton (from EUR 2,151); Grade 316L surged to EUR 3,807/ton (from EUR 3,653); Grade 309S reached EUR 2,982/ton; and ferritic Grade 409 increased to EUR 898/ton. These hikes, effective April, underscore the persistent pressure from raw material and energy costs across the European market.
Apr 1, 2026 11:01According to market reports, a major Luxembourg-based stainless steel manufacturer has raised the April alloy surcharges for its European flat products, effective April 1, 2026. The surcharge for the 304 grade (1.4301) increased to approximately $2,543/mt (EUR 2,211), up from last month's $2,474/mt. The 316L grade (1.4404) saw a hike to $4,378/mt (EUR 3,807), compared to $4,201/mt previously. Furthermore, the high-temperature 309S grade (1.4833) was raised to $3,429/mt (EUR 2,982), and the ferritic 409 grade (1.4512) increased to $1,033/mt (EUR 898). These upward adjustments reflect the ongoing raw material cost pressures across the European market.
Mar 31, 2026 19:37Indonesia's new nickel tariffs and Europe's CBAM have sharply raised overseas stainless steel costs, driving Asian mills to hike prices. Downstream demand remains mixed: Japan and South Korea are resilient, while the Taiwan, China region faces pressure. Wary of rapid price spikes, buyers are limiting purchases to rigid demand. The market will remain cautious until tariff details and actual demand are validated.
Mar 30, 2026 15:04According to market reports, European stainless steel alloy surcharges have seen a significant increase for April 2026. Surcharges for Grade 1.4301 (304) rose by approximately 3.6%, notably diverging from LME nickel prices, which actually declined by nearly 1% month-on-month. The primary catalyst behind this surge is the escalating price of ferrochrome, fueled by higher procurement costs, elevated energy prices, and the compounding financial impact of the CO2 tax under the CBAM, fully effective since January 1, 2026. This cost-push is most evident in chrome-heavy grades, with the surcharge for Grade 1.4016 (430) jumping by more than 5.4% compared to the previous month.
