Recently, battery joint venture ACC has terminated its plans to build super battery plants in Germany and Italy. The decision to suspend the construction of battery plants in Germany and Italy was made due to considerations of shifting from nickel-based battery chemistry to lithium iron phosphate battery technology. The company had previously planned to build three super plants in Europe — in France, Germany, and Italy — with a total investment of approximately 7 billion euros. The goal was to increase ACC's battery production capacity to at least 120 GWh by 2030. However, the projects in Germany and Italy have been on hold since May 2024. With this announcement of termination, only the French battery plant will remain operational.

Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission published an approval public notice for the "Waste Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries and Scrap High-Value Comprehensive Recycling with Annual Output of 10,000 Tons of Battery-Grade Lithium Carbonate Project of a company in Jiangsu." The project plans to construct a production line capable of processing 40,000 tons/year of retired lithium iron phosphate battery electrode pieces and cells, a production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate, and associated utility facilities. Recently, the People's Government of Lishui District, Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, published a public notice regarding the拟 approval of the environmental impact assessment document for the "Annual Treatment of 15,000 Tons of Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery Cathode Material Repair R&D and Production Base Project of a Company in Jiangsu." The project has a total investment of 500 million yuan and is located in Lishui Economic Development Zone. The main construction content includes: acquiring production equipment and establishing a new R&D and production base for repairing lithium iron phosphate battery cathode materials. Upon completion, the project will have the capacity to process 15,000 tons/year of lithium iron phosphate battery cathode material repair production line.

Recently, the Ecological Environment Bureau of a city in a province released the announcement regarding the acceptance of the "Environmental Impact Report for the New Energy Lithium Battery Material Comprehensive Utilization Project (Phase I)" of an energy development company. The project has a total investment of 60 million RMB and is located in an economic development zone in a district of the city. It involves the construction of 2 new factory buildings, 2 warehouses, 1 disassembly line, 1 cascaded use assembly line (shared by spent lithium iron phosphate battery and spent ternary lithium battery assembly lines)

【30,000-Ton/Year Retired Battery Utilization Project Breaks Ground in Shandong】 A comprehensive utilization project for 30,000 metric tons of retired lithium batteries per year has been launched in Shandong. Details of the project were disclosed recently. The project will utilize existing factory buildings to construct the facility, with a total investment of 110 million yuan. The planned construction includes two waste battery echelon utilization dismantling lines, one PACK assembly line, and two waste lithium iron phosphate battery regeneration lines.

Last week's announcement of import and export restrictions in the Congo (DRC) has led to a continuous increase in cobalt sulfate prices. However, due to insufficient short-term demand support, the price increase has been relatively limited.
