On February 1st, the groundbreaking ceremony for the ChaoWei YuanLi • WeiPu Recycling and the 100,000-ton level waste lithium battery recycling project in Tianmen City, Hubei Province, was grandly held at the industrial park of a company in Tianmen, Hubei. The project has a total investment of 300 million yuan and is expected to process 100,000 tons of lithium battery recycling materials.

Conference Background With the rapid development of global electric vehicles, batteries, as key energy storage devices, are gradually becoming an indispensable part of people's daily lives. However, the production and recycling of batteries have brought serious negative impacts on the environment, such as resource waste and pollution, which are becoming increasingly prominent. To address this challenge, governments, enterprises, and research institutions around the world are intensifying their efforts to promote battery recycling and circular utilization. Global Lead-Acid Battery Recycling Status: Lead-acid batteries have been widely used in fields such as automobiles and UPS, with a relatively high recycling rate. 【备案 of Sodium Battery Project with 1GWh Capacity】On July 9th, ChaoWei Power Group Co., Ltd. invested approximately 120 million yuan, which was approved by the Management Committee of Zhejiang Changxing Economic and Technological Development Zone. The investment involves a project of high-safety, wide-temperature-range sodium-ion batteries for electric bicycles with an annual production capacity of 1Gwh.

【Sodium-ion Batteries: Project Registration for Chaowei Sodium-ion Battery】With the approval of the Administrative Committee of Zhejiang Changxing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the Chaowei sodium-ion battery project, which is designed to produce 1Gwh of high-safety, wide-temperature sodium-ion batteries for electric bicycles annually, has been registered.

The financing will be used for the construction of a production line for tens of thousands of tons of cathode materials, product research and development, and market expansion to further advance the industrialization process of sodium-ion batteries.

SMM data showed that China' s copper cathode output stood at 951,400 mt in March, up 43,600 mt or 4.8% from the previous month and 12.1% from the same period in 2022.

SMM data showed that China produced 316,800 mt of secondary lead in February, up 2.23% MoM but down 1.09% YoY. For January-February, the combined output fell 6.24% from the same period last year to 626,700 mt.

SMM data showed that China’s copper cathode output stood at 907,800 mt in February, up 6.4% from the previous month and 6.49% from the same period in 2022. The actual output was 8,500 mt higher than the expected 899,300 mt.
