On April 27, 2026, Fujiang Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Geely Technology Group, received approval from the Tonglu County Development and Reform Bureau for its "High Performance Energy Storage Sodium-Ion Battery Digital Production Line Project," with a total investment of 148.69 million yuan. The project focuses on commercial energy storage scenarios, leveraging AI-driven full-process data integration to build an intelligent sodium-ion battery cell system for energy storage, tailored to long duration energy storage (LDES) requirements. Fujiang Energy is a core enterprise in Geely's battery segment. The Tonglu base is expected to have 12 GWh of power battery capacity, with LFP production lines already in operation, supplying Geely Galaxy, Zeekr, and other car models. The approval of this sodium-ion battery production line marks Geely's official implementation of a "lithium battery + sodium-ion battery" dual-technology roadmap, enhancing the new energy industrial ecosystem in Tonglu and accelerating sodium-ion battery industrialisation and energy storage market penetration.
Apr 29, 2026 09:23SK On will transition to a unified production system centered on its SK Battery America (SKBA) operations in Georgia to improve efficiency in North America. According to the company on the 3rd, starting April 6 (local time), production volumes from SKBA’s first plant will be transferred to the second plant. In addition, part of the second plant’s production lines will be converted from electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing to energy storage system (ESS) production. The Georgia Plant 1 has an annual capacity of 10GWh and began commercial operations in the first quarter of 2022, while Plant 2 has a capacity of 12GWh and started operations in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Apr 5, 2026 17:13On February 26, EVE Energy officially announced the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Arctech, securing a two-year collaboration scale of 12GWh for energy storage batteries and systems. This includes 10GWh of large-scale energy storage battery products and 2GWh of energy storage system products.

China Huadian launched a 12 GWh energy storage tender for 2026, explicitly requiring ≥314Ah cells. The contract uniquely links pricing to SMM’s lithium carbonate index to manage market volatility. With bids opening February 11, 2026, this tender cements 314Ah technology and SMM benchmarks as the new standard for utility-scale projects.
Feb 6, 2026 14:42The New South Wales (NSW) government recently announced that the sixth round of its long-duration storage (LDS) tender has awarded long-term energy service agreements to six large-scale lithium-ion battery energy storage projects, with a combined capacity of about 1.17 GW / 11.98 GWh. This brings the state’s contracted storage capacity to around 30 GWh. The latest tender allows NSW to meet ahead of schedule the targets set out in its Energy Roadmap of deploying 2 GW of long-duration storage by 2030 and reaching 28 GWh by 2034. The successful projects are located across multiple regions of the state and involve international developers including Neoen, BW ESS, Ark Energy, FRV, Bridge Energy and Iberdrola. Individual projects typically offer storage durations of more than 8 to 11 hours.
Feb 5, 2026 08:00On January 16, the REPT Battero-SAIKE Technology Chongqing Project Construction Campaign was successfully held in Fuling High-Tech Zone, Chongqing. This project is a further collaboration between Tsingshan and SAIC Group after their joint venture in Liuzhou for new energy lithium batteries and power battery systems. Through the "cell + system" collaborative model, REPT SAIKE provides cells while SAIKE REPT handles system integration, deepening the industrial chain synergy. The initial phase of the project is planned to have an annual production capacity of 12GWh of ESS and power new energy lithium batteries, mainly producing power batteries for passenger and commercial vehicles as well as home and industrial and commercial ESS batteries. The production line design will meet the production needs of a diversified product system, including the self-developed "Wending Battery."
