[SMM Steel] Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) to co-develop scalable low-carbon steelmaking technologies. The collaboration focuses on four strategic areas: scrap-based steelmaking, steel waste valorization, carbon capture and utilization (CCUS), and end-product performance. By leveraging USTB’s pilot-scale facilities and Tata Steel’s engineering strengths, the partnership aims to accelerate the transition of sustainable metallurgical research into practical industrial applications.

[SMM Steel] State-run miner NMDC Limited will exceed 50 million mt of iron ore production in FY 2025-26, the first company in India to reach this annual milestone. [JISCO Hongxing Stainless Steel Steelmaking Operation Area's Dual-Process Smelting of S30408 Steel Grade in January] After continuous learning and research, the management and technical personnel of JISCO Hongxing Stainless Steel Steelmaking Operation Area successfully developed an electric furnace + medium-frequency furnace dual-process smelting technology, effectively improving the metal yield as well as the recovery rates of nickel and chromium elements. In January, the dual-process smelting of S30408 steel grade resulted in a 0.52% increase in nickel recovery rate, a 7.46% increase in chromium recovery rate, and a reduction in comprehensive cost by 159.5 yuan/mt of steel, achieving the project implementation goals.
