Mar 31, 2025 13:24[SMM Announcement] SMM Adds Price Points for Waste Lead-Acid Batteries in Jiangsu Province: Dear Users, In recent years, the secondary lead industry in Jiangsu Province has developed rapidly, with an annual scrap processing capacity exceeding 2 million mt, accounting for approximately 19.5% of the national total. The upstream and downstream enterprises in the lead industry chain have shown significant interest in this development. To help market participants better understand the market trends for waste lead-acid battery recycling, provide pricing and settlement references for enterprises, and reduce transaction risks and costs, SMM has conducted in-depth market surveys and analyses. As a result, SMM plans to add price points for three types of waste lead-acid batteries in Jiangsu Province: Waste Electric Storage (Jiangsu), Waste Black Shell (Jiangsu), and Waste White Shell (Jiangsu), which will be officially implemented on March 14, 2025.
Mar 11, 2025 16:26Jiangsu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment: The lead-acid battery industry in Gaoyou Battery Industrial Park has passed the pilot evaluation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's clean production audit innovation program—Established in 2011, Gaoyou Battery Industrial Park is located on the eastern side of Gaoyou Economic Development Zone. Based on the transformation and upgrading of existing lead-acid batteries, the park focuses on breakthroughs in the lithium-ion battery industry, fostering the development of new-type batteries such as hydrogen fuel, sodium-ion, and flow batteries, as well as charging equipment. It also supports the comprehensive utilisation of scrap lithium batteries, forming a relatively complete industry chain and aiming to build a nationally renowned ESS battery specialty industrial hub. The park is a specialized industrial base for high-end equipment manufacturing and high-performance batteries in Jiangsu Province, and it is the only professional industrial park in Jiangsu Province themed around the battery industry. Currently, there are 13 producers operating in the park, including 11 engaged in lead-acid battery production, 1 producing lead battery additives, and 1 producing advanced lead-related materials.
