Canadian miner Resouro Strategic Metals is seeking funds to accelerate the development of its rare earth and titanium projects in Brazil, with the initial investment estimated at $160 million. The company plans to issue 8 million common shares through a private placement, aiming to raise C$2 million (approximately $1.4 million). The company said in a statement, "Resouro will use the proceeds for a pre-feasibility study, the urgent development of the Tiros rare earth and titanium project in Minas Gerais, and general working capital expenditures." Jul 22, 2026 18:09The US has surpassed Europe in investment in critical minerals, leaving the latter struggling to shake off its dependence. Citing analysis by the French Institute of International Relations, WSJ reports that over the past five years, the US has invested about $46 billion in critical raw material projects through grants, loans, and tax incentives—eight times the amount invested by the EU. The US is also negotiating prioritized development of mineral resources in countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Ukraine, while supporting overseas projects through financing plans. WSJ says the US’s aggressive strategy has disrupted Europe’s plans. To secure a loan from the US Export-Import Bank, Pensana, a London-based rare earth developer working on the Longonjo project in Angola, has already moved a processing plant originally planned to be built in the UK to the US.
Jul 22, 2026 18:082026 is the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Against a backdrop of intensifying global macro volatility and deepening high-quality development in China, the zinc industry is undergoing profound changes: mine-side tightness and the release of smelting capacity create structural tension, domestic and overseas inventory divergence reflects the complex situation of supply-demand rebalancing, and technological innovation is becoming a key driving force to resolve contradictions and reshape the pattern. New energy, new-type infrastructure, and other key areas under the 15th Five-Year Plan are injecting new momentum into traditional zinc consumption, while green, low-carbon, and circular economy models are also accelerating the restructuring of the industrial logic driven by technological innovation. With the collective support of upstream and downstream enterprises in the zinc industry, industry associations, and related parties, the 2026 SMM Zinc Conference and the 8th Hot-Dip Galvanizing Industry Development and Technology Innovation Forum, the 14th Zinc Salt, Zinc Oxide and Zinc Secondary Resources Development Forum, and the Die-Cast Zinc Alloy Development Forum will be held on August 6-8 in Qingdao, Shandong. With the theme of “Harnessing Zinc Momentum, Building the Zinc Industry, Embarking on a New Journey,” the conference is driven by macro perspectives and fundamental analysis, closely follows the main theme of high-quality development under the 15th Five-Year Plan, focuses on the four dimensions of macro policies, supply-demand pattern, global trade, and technological innovation, drives cost reduction and efficiency gains through technological breakthroughs, responds to market fluctuations through collaborative innovation, and jointly draws a new blueprint for the high-quality and sustainable development of the zinc industry.
