South Korea has expanded tax incentives for low-carbon solar manufacturing. Under revised rules effective April 1, PV module production facilities with lifecycle emissions of ≤655 kg CO₂/kW qualify for investment tax credits. According to the Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association (KOPIA), the policy covers the entire solar manufacturing chain, including polysilicon, wafer, cell, and module production equipment. The move extends South Korea’s existing carbon-grading system—used in public solar procurement and Renewable Portfolio Standard auctions—into manufacturing investment incentives. The policy aims to encourage domestic producers to adopt low-carbon processes and advanced technologies amid strong import dominance in the market.
Apr 17, 2026 10:08According to the announcement, in order to actively respond to changes in the international trade environment, Boway Alloy planned to sell 100% equity of its wholly-owned subsidiary Boviet Solar Technology (North Carolina) LLC (hereinafter referred to as "Boviet (North Carolina)"), which has 3 GW of solar module capacity in the US.
Apr 15, 2026 10:10The General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on carrying out quality work in industry and information technology in 2026. The notice mentioned strengthening quality supervision and management. It called for coordinated efforts in central quality and food safety assessments, supporting national quality supervision and random inspection of products, conducting quality inspections on key products such as lithium batteries, PV modules, civil explosives, and radio transmission equipment, and strengthening supervision and inspection of production consistency of road motor vehicle products. It also called for guiding e-commerce platforms to carry out quality self-declarations for online-purchased products, intensifying random inspection efforts.
Apr 14, 2026 18:29Under the guidance of MIIT, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has begun drafting the 'General Rules for PV Product Manufacturing Cost Assessment Models.' This standard will cover the entire value chain—polysilicon, wafers, cells, and modules—to establish a unified benchmark for industry-wide cost comparisons. Separately, MIIT is seeking public comment on a mandatory national safety standard for terrestrial PV modules with system voltages up to 1,500 V, ensuring stricter reliability for utility-scale projects.
Apr 13, 2026 16:48According to consultancy 'Greener', Brazil imported 17.9 GWp of PV modules in 2025, a 24% decline from 2024, with 79% destined for the distributed generation segment. The drop reflects an inventory buildup as distributed additions slowed to 8.8 GW. Despite a fragmented market of 115 brands, the top 10 suppliers—led by JA Solar, Longi, Astronergy, and Risen—accounted for 59% of imports. Import costs have surged to 44% of the product's 'CIF' value due to higher import duties (up from 9% to 25%) and rising freight costs. Looking ahead, the market faces further pricing impacts from the end of Chinese export tax incentives, though some utility-scale projects may benefit from reinstated duty quotas.
Mar 30, 2026 09:32Recently, Daqo Tailai Electric’s official account announced that the core No. 4 site of the 85 MW PV power station energy storage supporting project in Cuba, built by the company under Chinese government aid, was successfully connected to the grid and began power generation. The 85 MW PV+ESS project connected to the grid this time is planned as an overall layout of 15 distributed PV energy storage sites, covering multiple core power consumption areas in Cuba. It adopts a technical solution combining China’s currently mature and efficient PV modules with advanced ESS to achieve integrated operation of “PV power generation + energy storage peak shaving + off-grid backup.” Compared with traditional standalone PV power stations, the ESS supporting this project can effectively address the intermittency and fluctuations of PV power generation, improve the stability of power supply from the power grid, and ensure continuous regional power supply even under extreme weather or power grid failure conditions, thereby significantly improving energy utilization efficiency.
Mar 27, 2026 16:17Dear User, Currently, India has gradually become an important global manufacturing and export base for PV modules. In actual trade, Indian made modules exhibit differentiated supply-demand relationships and price performances in the spot market due to the varying origins of the solar cells used. To facilitate upstream and downstream enterprises in the PV industry chain to better understand India's module export and local market conditions, grasp real-time international spot price dynamics, and convey more comprehensive and diverse price information to the market, thereby reducing transaction risks and costs in overseas trade, SMM, after a period of consolidation and market surveys, plans to officially add the 'TOPCon Module-Indian Made(with domestic solar cells)' and 'TOPCon Module-Indian Made(without domestic solar cells)' product prices as market trading references starting from January 23, 2026. The published prices are all ex-work prices for these modules in India, with specific specifications and descriptions as follows: Price Point Names: TOPCon Module-Indian Made(with domestic solar cells) TOPCon Module-Indian Made(without domestic solar cells) Price Description: Price Type: Indian ex-work price (EXW) Tax Rate Standard: Tax-excluded Definition: Indian ex-work price With Domestic Solar Cells: Refers to modules manufactured in India, with the solar cells used also produced locally in India. Without Domestic Solar Cells: Refers to modules manufactured in India, but the solar cells are imported from overseas (not produced locally in India). Unit: $/W Major Brands: Waaree Technologies Ltd, Adani Group, Vikram Solar Limited, Tata Power Company Ltd, Goldi Solar Pvt Ltd, etc. Minimum Trading Volume: 10 MW Delivery Period: Within 3 months Release Time: Every Friday at 11:00 AM Beijing Time Payment Terms: Cash, and other payment methods standardized as cash SMM PV Research Team January 13, 2026
