Indonesia's NPI production in November 2023 reached 127,400 mt in nickel content, up 10.03% MoM and up 26.6% YoY. The cumulative production for the year amounted to 1,246,900 mt in nickel content, up 19.5% YoY.

Indonesia's October 2023 NPI production was 115,800 mt in nickel content, down 4.04% MoM but up 9.51% YoY.

In September 2023, Indonesia's NPI output was 120,200 mt in nickel content, up 2.65% MoM and 19% YoY, bringing total output in 2023 so far to 1.0033 million in nickel content, up 19.8% YoY.

SHANGHAI, Jun 8 (SMM) - SMM data showed that China's copper cathode output stood at 958,800 mt in May, down 11,200 mt or 1.2% MoM, but a rise of 17% YoY, and the output was 5,300 mt higher than expected.

Indonesian NPI output stood at 110,700 mt in April, up 13.36% month-on-month and up 17.7% year-on-year. Output from January to April totalled 415,300 mt in Ni content, up 19.3% year-on-year. In April, the problem of power equipment construction in some factories in Indonesia was resolved, and the domestic and overseas demand for stainless steel has recovered. These, combined with a shortage of stainless steel scrap, boosted the demand for NPI. Therefore, the NPI plants were incentivised to step up production.

With the drop in nickel prices in April, the nickel ore prices in China fell as well, slightly pushing up the profit margins of NPI plants.
