Bosai Group’s Damei Company High-Aluminum Refractory Clinker Project Officially Started Trial Production This project is a major initiative following Bosai Group’s industrial restructuring in the Nanchuan segment and a powerful engine for Nanchuan District’s development of a high-end refractory materials industrial park. Covering an area of 218 mu, the project has a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan and will build an annual 400,000 mt high-aluminum refractory clinker production line along with supporting facilities. The project is planned in a single overall plan and implemented in phases; Phase I, an annual 200,000 mt production line, was completed in H2 2025.

On the morning of February 26, the high-alumina clinker project implemented by Damei Company officially commenced trial production. This project is a major industry following the industrial restructuring of the Bosai Group's Nanchuan division, and a powerful engine for Nanchuan District's development of a high-end refractory materials industrial park. The project covers 218 acres, with a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan, and will construct a high-alumina clinker production line with an annual output of 400,000 tons, along with supporting facilities. The project is planned in one phase but implemented in stages, with the first phase, a 200,000-ton-per-year production line, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2025.

On April 18, Wanbo New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Bosai Group, officially launched its alumina red mud drying project, which involved an investment of approximately 20 million yuan. After the project became operational, Wanbo New Materials Co., Ltd. could reduce the moisture content of red mud from 28% to 4% through drying, achieving a daily production capacity of approximately 5,000 mt of dried red mud, effectively addressing the issue of sludge stickiness. The dried red mud can be widely used in fields such as cementitious materials, brick making, metallurgy, and as a raw material for cement. The red mud drying project adopts a suspended-state circulating drying system, with an overall process route combining drying and mixing. This system is 30-40% more energy-efficient compared to conventional drying systems. It consists of a feeding system, a drying system, a finished product collection system, a mixing system, and a hot air system. These systems operate in coordination, with each link closely integrated to ensure efficient and orderly production. The core technology was independently developed by Beijing CAS-Leading Environmental Protection Research Institute Co., Ltd.

SMM Morning Comment on Alumina: Recently, the weekly operating rate of alumina has rebounded slightly, and alumina supply has increased slightly. With the technological transformation and production cuts in aluminum smelters in Guangxi, Sichuan, and other regions, alumina demand has slightly declined, and the previously tight alumina supply has improved compared to earlier periods. By the end of December, the inventory of alumina raw materials at aluminum smelters had rebounded slightly. Downstream restocking and purchasing enthusiasm have weakened, and acceptance of high-priced spot alumina has decreased. Recently, reports of transactions involving low-priced spot cargoes have emerged in various regions, especially in Shanxi and Henan, where spot alumina transaction prices have continued to decline. Suppliers have shown an increased willingness to sell, and in the short term, spot alumina prices are likely to continue their downward trend.

Guyana's Bauxite Production Is Expected to Increase by Approximately 400,000 mt in 2025 The Guyanese government announced that, driven by Bosai Mining Group's (BMGG) large-scale investments, the country's bauxite production is expected to grow by 400,000 mt in 2025, continuing the strong momentum of a 250,000 mt increase in 2024. The production increase mainly stems from Bosai Group's large-scale expansion plan, which aims to raise the annual capacity of its Linden Bauxite Project from 1 million mt to 3 million mt. Key facilities of the expansion project include the newly constructed Bosai Terminal and a conveyor belt system of approximately 20 kilometers, designed to transport bauxite directly from the mine to the terminal. By the end of 2024, the terminal is expected to be completed. Additionally, the group plans to invest $470 million to build an alumina refinery, enhancing the vertical integration of the industry chain.
