UK-based aluminum extrusion supplier LA Metals has completed a management buyout, marking the start of a new growth phase. Under the new ownership, the company plans to invest in laser cutting systems and additional manufacturing equipment to expand its aluminium processing capabilities, increase production capacity, relocate to larger premises and hire more employees. Founded in 1987, LA Metals supplies aluminum extrusion products to customers including Next, Burger King and the UK Ministry of Defence, with the investment expected to strengthen its position in the UK's aluminium extrusion and fabrication market.

Aluminium extrusion maker Alumex inaugurated its “Alum Transcend Space” in Kotte, Sri Lanka. The new centre will display advanced aluminium applications for architecture, construction, and industry. The facility was created to show how aluminium can be used for more than just doors and windows. It highlights solutions for modern interior and exterior design and supports sustainable building practices. Visitors can explore proprietary aluminium systems from internationally recognised brands, including AluK and Capral, giving architects, builders and homeowners access to global design and engineering solutions. The concept centre also serves as a knowledge hub for the aluminium industry. It provides architects, engineers, fabricators, developers, consultants and students with an opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, product innovations and international best practices. Alumex said the initiative is intended to encourage greater adoption of advanced aluminium systems while supporting skills development across the sector.

The Aluminum Extrusion Manufacturers Association of India (ALEMAI) has launched “Aluminum Bharat 2026”, a national initiative to strengthen India's midstream and downstream aluminum industry. ALEMAI said high raw material, energy and financing costs continue to weigh on domestic manufacturers, while downstream aluminum products from ASEAN countries and the UAE enter India at zero or near-zero duty under FTAs. The association noted that India's aluminium extrusion industry has an installed capacity of 3 million tonnes per year but currently produces only 1.2–1.3 million tones, with around 1.5 million tonnes of downstream aluminum products imported annually. It called for tariff reforms, lower production costs and stronger support for domestic value-added manufacturing.

The association called for rationalizing tariffs on raw materials, reviewing FTA-driven duty-free imports of value-added aluminum products, lowering energy and financing costs, and increasing domestic aluminum billet availability to improve industry competitiveness. ALEMAI said India's aluminum extrusion industry has an installed capacity of around 3 million tonnes per year but is operating at only about 1.2 million tonnes, while imports exceed 1.5 million tonnes annually. The association expects demand to grow with infrastructure, automotive and renewable energy development, but warned that policy support is needed to improve capacity utilization and protect domestic manufacturers.

Albarrie, a manufacturer of nonwoven technical fabrics, will participate in Aluminum Düsseldorf 2026, which will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 6 to 8, 2026. The company will exhibit its products for the aluminium extrusion industry. Nonwoven technical fabrics are used in aluminium extrusion plants to handle hot aluminium profiles during production. They protect the surface of aluminium profiles as they move through the production line and are also used in filtration and environmental control systems at extrusion facilities. Albarrie manufactures nonwoven technical fabrics for industrial applications. In the aluminium extrusion industry, the company supplies heat felts, roller covers, separator belts, filter bags and containment products used during production.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a 10,000-tonne aluminium extrusion press at Yantra India Limited's Ordnance Factory in Ambajhari, Nagpur, on Friday. The proposed facility is expected to become an important resource for India's defence manufacturing sector. The extrusion press will enhance the country's ability to produce large, high-strength and precision aluminium alloy extrusions required for defence and aerospace applications.
