SMM November 20 News:
Second-Life Application Market This Week:
Combined with this week's market performance, both ternary high C-rate B-grade battery cells and LFP B-grade battery cell prices showed a clear upward trend. Cost side, nickel salt prices dropped back slightly, while cobalt salt prices rose slightly, with both currently maintaining relative stability overall; lithium chemicals prices, however, surged significantly, becoming the core factor driving up battery costs. Supply side, end-use demand for both ESS and power batteries was high, directly driving a notable increase in battery cell market demand. This demand transmission to the second-life application market led to a tightening of battery supply in the recent second-life market. Meanwhile, battery cell producers, affected by rising costs of key raw materials such as lithium chemicals, continued to strengthen their willingness to hold prices firm, further supporting the price rise. Demand side maintained the previous just-in-time procurement pace, coupled with some market entities holding optimistic expectations for future lithium chemicals price trends and actively increasing stockpiling efforts. Under the combined effect of multiple factors, ternary and LFP B-grade battery prices achieved synchronous growth.
Considering the current multi-dimensional market performance, although demand in the second-life market remained stable, the supportive effect of rising costs and the constraining effect of reduced total supply resonated. In the short term, second-life market prices are expected to show a certain degree of upward movement driven by these two core factors.
