Dear SMM Users,

Indonesia is one of the world's major nickel ore producing regions, with saprolite laterite nickel ore widely used as feedstock for nickel pig iron (NPI) production. Differences in nickel grade, moisture content, iron content, and S/M ratio can significantly affect the transaction value and smelting economics of nickel ore.

To further enhance transparency in the Indonesian domestic nickel ore market and provide a more representative price reference for actively traded ore specifications, SMM is launching a new price point for Indonesia domestic 1.3% saprolite laterite nickel ore delivered to destination ports.

The new price point focuses on 1.3% nickel saprolite ore, with a moisture content of approximately 35%, an S/M ratio of 1.8–2.5, and Fe content of 25% max. The assessment reflects transaction prices for domestic Indonesian nickel ore delivered to destination ports and is intended to provide a reliable reference for domestic ore procurement, pricing negotiations, and cost analysis.

The new price point will complement SMM's existing nickel ore assessments and further expand SMM's coverage of the Indonesian domestic nickel ore market.
