To provide a more comprehensive and accurate reflection of the Turkish hot-rolled coil (HRC) spot market, help market participants better navigate regional trade flows and cost-transmission mechanisms, and reduce market risks for supply-chain participants, SMM, following in-depth market research and industry engagement, has decided to launch a new spot price assessment for Turkey domestic HRC, effective from 4 September 2026.
Türkiye is a key steel hub linking Europe, the Middle East and the CIS, and its HRC spot price carries important reference value across regional trade and re-processing chains, yet a unified, independent third-party weekly benchmark has long been absent. In response to demand across the supply chain for authoritative price information, SMM is introducing this ex-works (EXW) spot assessment following extensive research among Turkey's leading mills and trading channels.
Assessed on an EXW Turkey basis and covering the mainstream S235JR grade (3.0*1250*C), it will help traders, mills and downstream users better track regional price levels and cost transmission, provide an objective reference for cross-regional procurement, hedging and contract settlement, and further enhance price transparency.

- Price Type: Spot price (benchmark), under the SMM pricing methodology.
- Tax Basis: VAT excluded.
- Update Frequency: Weekly, every Tuesday.
- Publication Time: Tuesdays, 11:00 Turkey time (04:00 Beijing time).
- Payment Terms: Bank transfer — cash/advance or short-term credit (≤30 days); other payment methods standardised.
- Delivery Time: Within 4–12 weeks.
- Major Producers: Erdemir, Isdemir, Habas, Tosyali, etc.
- Quality Standard: EN 10025-2:2004 — yield strength ReH ≥235 MPa; tensile strength Rm 360–510 MPa; elongation A ≥26%; C ≤0.17%; Mn ≤1.40%; P, S ≤0.035%.
