Indonesia's stainless steel capacity and export volumes have expanded steadily in recent years, making shifts in its export mix an increasingly important factor shaping global supply patterns, regional material flows, and market prices. Export performance varies considerably across grades — 200-series, 300-series, and 400-series products differ in destination markets, applicable trade measures, and end-use demand drivers — and aggregate export figures alone no longer capture how Indonesia's stainless exports are actually changing.
To further improve SMM's global stainless steel database and enhance the transparency of Indonesian stainless steel export data, SMM is launching monthly Indonesian stainless steel export volume data by grade on 12th August, 2026, covering 12 grade categories across the 300-, 200-, and 400-series.
