In recent years, Malaysia’s accelerating industrialization has supported steady growth in demand for low-carbon stainless steel products across industries including chemical equipment, food processing, architectural applications, automotive components and home appliance manufacturing. With its lower carbon content, strong corrosion resistance and favorable weldability, 304L stainless steel has become an important and widely used grade in Malaysia’s stainless steel processing and manufacturing sectors.
Malaysia has developed a relatively mature stainless steel processing, trading and distribution network. Domestic transaction prices for 304L stainless steel can effectively reflect changes in local raw material costs, end-user demand and market supply-demand conditions, making them an increasingly important reference for assessing the performance of Malaysia’s low-carbon stainless steel market.
To further refine the SMM international pricing system, enhance market transparency, and provide pricing benchmarks closer to terminal delivery for the upstream and downstream industry chain, SMM has decided:

"Malaysia 304L/2B Coil Mill Edge" and "Malaysia 304L/No.1 Coil Mill Edge".

- Quality: Standard thickness 2mm, thickness range 1.5-2.0mm, width 1240mm, burr edge, compliant with ASTM A480/A480M
- Definition: Delivered to consumer works Malaysia
- Unit: RM/tonne
- Quantity: Minimum 20 tonnes
- Timing: Within 30 days
- Publication: Daily, by 12pm Malaysia Time
